The Williamsburg Academy Stallion varsity football team went to battle on the field Friday, September 10 against Florence Christian School. Your Stallions brought home the win by one point in a thrilling overtime game that got the Corral roaring.
In the first quarter, our boys trailed behind 14-0. At the end of the first half, the score was 20-7 with a 4 yard touchdown run by Teague Ward. At the start of the second half, a wild fourth down conversion led to a 23 yard pass by Conrad Balder to Joe Kellahan. The next play, the Stallions capped off the drive with a nine yard touchdown pass to Henry Swicord. The rest of the second half your Stallion defense fought hard to put a stop on the Eagles resulting with FCS not scoring in the second half. With a score of 14-20, Conrad Balder snuck into the end zone with under one minute left in the fourth quarter. With the score standing at 20-20 after the PAT was blocked and the game was sent into overtime. The Stallions won the coin toss and got the ball first, and scored in two plays with a four yard touchdown run from Teague Ward. Henry Swicord then nails the PAT putting your stallions 27-20 in overtime! The Eagles now getting their shot at a win, punched in a one yard rushing touchdown on fourth and goal. The Eagles went for a two point conversion hoping for the win, but fell short by less than one yard with a tackle by Binkie McKenzie. The Williamsburg student body stormed the field ready to celebrate the big, hard fought win! Way to go Stallions!
