This week’s alumni spotlight falls on WA alumnus, Lori Morris. Lori Morris has always had a special place in her heart for Williamsburg Academy. She started school here in the sixth grade, left and returned at the beginning of eighth grade. During her senior year at WA, she was on the varsity cheer squad, homecoming court, and was voted most school spirited. She also met her future husband, Trey Morris, before graduating. Lori attended Coastal Carolina University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and then received her Masters in Education Administration from The University of Phoenix. Since they’ve been married, Lori and Trey have had two children together who attend W.A. Marlin is in the eighth grade and plays football, basketball, and baseball. He is also on the bass fishing team which Lori sponsors. Her younger son, Fisher, is in the third grade and can’t wait to play sports. When Lori took Marlin to register for 4K, she asked them if they had any teaching jobs available. They called her a few days later with a job opening if she wanted it. She always said it was the best decision she ever made accepting that job. In 2016-2017, she was voted Upper School Teacher of the Year and she is a Master Teacher. Lori has been a prom sponsor for several years. This year, she is the senior class sponsor and has been involved with the class every year since they were in the fourth grade. They have either been in her class as a student or in her homeroom in the mornings. She calls them her babies! She is also very active in her church, Black River Free Will Baptist, where she is church treasurer, Sunday school teacher, youth committee member and is the church pianist. She also plays piano at events for the school when needed. She is a second mom to most of the students at Williamsburg Academy and she is deeply loved by everyone at the school.
